Work Like an Egyptian: Ancient Civilization Comes to Life in RPMS
Ask a Rocky Point Middle School sixth-grade student what a sarcophagus is, and you will get a knowledgeable answer in ancient civilizations. Students in Rebecca Pagnotta and Meg Parise’s humanities classes have been learning about ancient Egypt and some have created their own versions of a decorated stone coffin associated with that time period.
The students also wrote essays and created some other amazing projects to show what they have learned. These projects include pyramids made from sugar cubes, mummies made from Barbie dolls and wrapped in yarn or gauze and beautiful illustrations of Egyptian pharaohs in the era’s distinctive art style.
