Rocky Point is Unified in Sports
Rocky Point High School Unified Athletes and Partners participated in a Unified Youth Summit at the Sayville School District recently. Athletes and partners from more than 16 schools throughout Suffolk County gathered with the focus of educating and promoting unified activities and inclusion.
The informative and engaging day was filled with presentations by students regarding events, activities and campaigns for inclusion.
“Our commitment to unified varsity sports and athletics continues to grow,” Director of Health, P.E., Athletics & Intramurals Jonathon Rufa said. “Rocky Point will add a Unified Varsity Bowling team this spring and plans are underway for a Unified Physical Education class for the 2025-2026 school year.”
Rocky Point will also participate in a Choose to Include Day this spring across the middle school and high school campus. The Choose to Include campaign “reminds students that when we give others the chance to fulfil their dreams, everyone wins.” Rocky Point’s Unified athletes and partners will plan and manage the event with the assistance of the Special Olympics.
