A Second Grade Adventure with ‘Dog Man’
Frank J. Carasiti Elementary School second graders visited PJ Cinemas on Feb. 11 to see the animated movie “Dog Man,” based on the popular book series by Dav Pilkey. The movie has captured the hearts of many FJC students, making it the perfect follow-up to a successful PARP week.
To make this experience even more special, all FJC students participated in a ZOOM visit with Mr. Mark Velasquez, an animator from DreamWorks who worked on the “Dog Man” film. Students learned about the exciting world of animation and received a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into creating animated films.
Mr. Velasquez had some special surprises for the students when they saw some photos of librarian Sarina Sicurella on the screen. Mrs. Sicurella arranged the virtual visit as she and Mr. Velasquez have been friends since their high school days.
Mr. Velasquez encouraged the students to follow their dreams, understand and work through challenges and make positive choices in life.
