Senior Presents Closing Remarks at BOCES Recognition Day

Rocky Point High School senior Sean Abernethy was selected to present the closing remarks at the Eastern Suffolk BOCES Bellport Technical Center Recognition Day Ceremony.
Sean, a student in the Art, Design and Visual Communications program at the Gary D. Bixhorn Technical Center, spoke about how each day at the tech center “is like one stone being added to a foundation.” He shared that because each student chose their field of study there, the tech center is a place where each one of them is truly dedicated to the learning experience.
He further addressed his peers, imparting the wisdom, “The stones they laid at the tech center will become an amazing castle they have built, as they are now better prepared to enter into the workforce or military or college.”
Sean also thanked the administration and teaching staff for their dedication to the tech center programs.
Congratulations to Sean and all our BOCES graduates! As a fitting to end to a great day, Sean was named the “Outstanding Student” for The Art, Design and Visual Communications program.
Well done, Sean!
