Joseph A. Edgar Intermediate School third grader Erios Pikramenos, used his inquisitive mind, some skills he learned in STEM classes, and the Summer Olympics as inspiration to enter the 2025 Brookhaven National Laboratory Elementary School Science Fair.

His project "Lami Vs. Eddy" was named the grade three first place winner of the competition that showcased a range of hypotheses students set out to test by following the scientific method. Erios took the grade three title out of 258 projects that were judged by BNL scientists and local teachers. He was honored on June 7 and honored again at the Suffolk County Legislature’s meeting on June 24.
