RPMS Winter Concert
Rocky Point Middle School held its annual Winter Concerts on the evenings of Dec. 9 and Dec. 16, showcasing the talent and dedication of its student musicians.
Performances featured the 6th, 7th and 8th grade choruses led by Hayden Aron, who filled in for Emily Farrell; the 6th and 8th grade orchestras directed by Meghan Walter; the 7th grade orchestra under Nicholas Butcher; the 6th grade band led by Vincent Ragona; the 7th grade band directed by Amy Schecher; and the 8th grade band under Kyra Kenwood-Zeidner.
Students performed a range of challenging and engaging selections, including holiday classics and winter-themed pieces enjoyed by performers and audience members alike. One highlight included a musical snowball fight during the 6th grade band performance. Both evenings offered festive programs that helped set the tone for the holiday season within the school community. Rocky Point Music Department chairpersons Craig Knapp and Amy Schecher shared a congratulatory message recognizing the efforts of students and faculty.
“The music students and music faculty have worked hard this year to prepare such challenging and joyful performances,” the message read. “We are lucky to have such amazing students here in Rocky Point. We are very proud of these dedicated student musicians and the incredibly devoted music faculty at the Rocky Point Middle School. We are so pleased to see such diligent and enthusiastic students forming a terrific community of music makers. We hope the students and their families are as proud of the performances as the music faculty members are. We are extremely thankful for the support of the parents, and we are also grateful that the Rocky Point School District administration and Board of Education support our music program.”
