National Honor Society
Rocky Point High School proudly welcomed 60 new members into its chapter of the National Honor Society during an induction ceremony held last Wednesday.
Admission to the National Honor Society is based on academic achievement, service, leadership and character. Students who earn a 92 weighted GPA after five semesters are eligible to apply and must submit an application, teacher recommendations and documentation of community service hours. Final selections are made by the NHS Faculty Committee. Early graduates are also eligible for nomination in the spring of their senior year.
The event was organized and led by advisor and social studies teacher Tom Reilly and featured remarks from current NHS officers, each highlighting the organization’s core values. President Trinity Parisey spoke about scholarship, Vice President Samantha Normandin addressed leadership, Treasurer Olivia Carley reflected on service, and Secretary Megan Curtin emphasized character. English teacher Mr. James Parker delivered a special address to the inductees after being overwhelmingly selected by current NHS members as a teacher who has had a significant positive impact on their time at Rocky Point.
Congratulations to all of the newly inducted members on this outstanding achievement. Thank you for your hard work and dedication!
