Eighth Graders Mark the End of Middle School Chapter

Families, friends and staff gathered on the back field of Rocky Point Middle School on June 25 to celebrate the accomplishments of the eighth grade class during the school's moving up ceremony.
The ceremony began with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by a performance of "The Star-Spangled Banner" by members of the eighth grade chorus, accompanied by student musicians from the eighth grade band and orchestra.
Principal Dawn Meyers welcomed attendees and congratulated the students on reaching this important milestone. In her remarks, she reflected on their growth throughout middle school and offered words of encouragement as they prepare to begin the next chapter at Rocky Point High School. Eighth grade student speaker Riley Fernandez then stepped to the podium to address her classmates, sharing memories and reflections from her years at Rocky Point Middle School.
Following the remarks, students were recognized with awards honoring excellence across several academic departments, as well as outstanding character, leadership, service and overall achievement. The highlight of the ceremony came as each eighth grader received a promotional certificate from Ms. Meyers, officially marking the completion of their middle school years.
As the ceremony concluded, students celebrated alongside their families and teachers, closing an important chapter at Rocky Point Middle School and looking forward to the exciting opportunities that await them at Rocky Point High School.
