Rocky Point High School congratulates students Ian Dowling, Lily Graham and Nathan Watkis for being recognized as Commended Students in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program, an honor that recognizes students who have demonstrated outstanding academic promise. 

The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition that recognizes high-achieving high school students and provides opportunities for college undergraduate scholarships. Students enter the program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

More than two-thirds of the approximately 50,000 students who earn the highest scores on the PSAT are designated as Commended Students. This year, approximately 34,000 students received this distinction based on their exceptional performance and academic potential.
