August 29 Update

The pipe fabrication has been completed and the building of the boiler continues. The steel dunnage for the AC units has been permanently flashed-in and weather sealed and a watertight pitch pocket is installed to bring electrical conduit onto the roof to power the new AC unit. The new kitchen equipment has arrived, including a boiler-less combi-oven and a temperature moisture controlled holding unit for prepared food, and the automatic roll-down doors are being installed at the new serving line in the cafeteria. Toilet partitions are being installed throughout the new bathrooms and a new door has been placed in the music room.




August 18 Update

In the new bathrooms, the installation of the hands-free operable toilets continue, new mirrors, soap dispensers and hand dryers have been installed, and the new tile floor has been grouted. The steamfitters have continued to fabricate and install pipework for the new boilers. Relay boxes have been installed to tie in the switches for the electronically operable windows.


 

 

August 14 Update

Junction boxes have been installed in between the window units in the old gym to feed power to the new electronic window blind operators, which are mounted above the windows. An existing door opening has been widened to permit the installation of the new walk-in freezer and a steel lintel has been installed above the widened door to structurally disperse the load. New ceiling registers have been installed into the cafeteria ceiling to deliver AC from the rooftop units and acoustical ceiling in the music room is complete. Hands free sensor operated toilets and sinks are being installed in the renovated bathrooms. The new rooftop AC unit has been set on the cafeteria roof.

 


August 7 Update

An old egress door was removed and patched in with new block to convert this old storage room into a new walk-in freezer. Outside, a concrete pad was poured in preparation for a new cafeteria egress door. Acoustical soundboards were fastened to the music room ceiling and new LED lights were installed in the ceiling grid in both the music room and bathroom. Roof work was complete in preparation for the new AC units in the cafeteria. New boilers have been built in the basement and pipe work in this area has begun. Tile work in the bathroom continues and the new electrical disconnects have been installed in the basement utility room.




July 31 Update

 

Cafeteria:
New acoustical ceiling tiles are being installed throughout the entire kitchen, new electrical panels are being installed in the kitchen/cafeteria storage closet and a new serving line area in the cafeteria has been framed and sheetrocked. Additionally, an old egress door from the cafeteria has been removed and patched in with a new concrete block to match the interior and brickwork to match the exterior.

Music Room:
A new acoustical ceiling is being installed in the music room.

HVAC:
The structural steel frame has been lifted onto the cafeteria roof and set on bearing walls to hold the new rooftop HVAC units. Masons have begun filling in the voids left by the removal of the old uninvent heaters and components for the new boilers are being loaded into the basement and assembled.

Bathroom:
The bathroom floor and wall tile has been installed.




July 21 Update

 

The bathroom refurbishment project continues as new plumbing and ceramic tiles have been installed and the walls have been sheetrocked. The concrete pads have been poured for the new boilers, new electrical conduits have been run through the crawlspace and the ductwork for the cafeteria AC has commenced.




July 14 Update

 

Plumbing work has begun for the bathroom renovation and minor abatement project in the bathroom is also underway. The boiler room abatement has been completed, the walk-in freezer has been removed to allow for the installation of a new serving line in the cafeteria and the old storage closet has been cleared away making room for the installation of the new walk-in freezer. The new wall in the music room has also been framed out and sheetrocked.



July 7 Update

 

Week two of construction included the continued demolition of the toilet room at JAE and the removal of a block wall section to access rough plumbing. The removal of the old boilers and the old walk-in freezer in the kitchen is complete. New ADA compliance doorframes are being prepped and the music room demolition has made way for the installation of new casework. Lastly, the new parking lot asphalt is being poured.

 


June 30 Update

The district began work on the bathroom, music room, and boiler renovations as well as parking lot repairs and unit ventilation work in the cafeteria this week. Below are photos of the music room, basement boiler and the toilet room demolition, including the removal of all existing plumbing fixtures, toilet partition and toilet accessories.
