Do spaghetti and marshmallows go together?
Rocky Point Middle School sixth and seventh graders worked on a teambuilding STEM challenge during their advisory period. Students were tasked with using thin spaghetti and miniature marshmallows to create the tallest tower.
The students explored and practiced the design process: thinking, doing, prototyping and iteration, encouraging the design mindset and supporting basic engineering principles. Many found that a triangular design was a good shape for their structures.
